Ready on the quay
After her winter refit, Ptarmigan is ready for the new season’s seal trips to Blakeney Point. On a lovely sunny morning Ptarmigan was moved down to the quay from the barn where she had been refitted.

The Marine and Coastguard Agency (MCA), having followed the refit process and checking and approving all the improvements, came and visited her and gave her the final approval for launch yesterday.
.
After the short tow down to the quay, JimTemple hooked her up to the tractor and backed her down into Morston creek where she floated off with Mike at the helm.
Ptarmigan will spend the first few days letting her timbers swell as she soaks in the water after drying out on land during the refit – one of the many care features of running a traditionally Clinker built boat.
.
While all this was happening, Goose was adding the finishing touches to the new website which we aim to launch at the same time, along with this year’s leaflets. Meanwhile, Kate is gearing up for our first seal trips, preparing all the paperwork necessary for selling tickets at Blakeney Quay.
Into the water for the first time in 3 months

The prospects still look good for this year, with healthy numbers of seals out at the point and our summer bird visitors arriving. There is already a good number of terns at the nesting site on Blakeney Point, something that you will be able to see on your seal trip with us.
